Barcelona Nights

Do you know what’s awesome about Barcelona?

The fact that gin & tonics are served in goblets.

Swimming pool sized goblets if you will…

Such an excellent way to start our Saturday night!

For dinner we decided to try out the Gothic Quarter.

We didn’t have anywhere particular in mind so we happily wandered around before stumbling upon this cute restaurant called Taverna del Bisbe.

Despite saying at lunch that we would never order another potato again, our starters came out looking as if we were creating a shrine for our favourite vegetable.

At least our main courses were more varied, I had the lamb chops and they were very tasty!

I was equally rather jealous of Catherine’s paella.

After dinner we debated where to go next. Barcelona’s night scene is popping, there is literally so much choice, especially if you are into electro / house music.

A crazy EDM nightclub wasn’t really our vibe though, so we opted for the more relaxed bar scene.

I was hoping to make it to a rooftop bar but sadly none of them were open as it was January… Ground floor it would have to be! Based on the recommendation of a friend we jumped in a cab to the Dow Jones.

The concept was cool, drink prices were listed on TV screens above the bar and they went up or down depending on demand.

The place where you drink at… in case you were curious

It was a lot of fun but we wanted to continue exploring, so after a drink we made moves to find another haunt.

In a retort to all the closed rooftop bars we went to the underground Mau Mau bar, a converted warehouse that just screams ‘artsy’.

The G&T menu is two pages long and the wall decor consists of hanging projector screens showing tropical jungle images…. yeah, I have no idea what they were going for but it was funky and unique!

We called it a night after Mau Mau but if you are into the clubbing scene here is a list of some of the best ones to go to in the city!
