Desert Safari Dubai

Is a desert yoga pose a bad reason to trek an hour out of town in 43 degree heat?

Eh.. of course not!

On our second day we met up with my friend Mo who is spending his summer in Dubai, and he being an awesome human organised a desert safari for us.

We set off in the afternoon and made our way straight to the wilderness / desert.. not really sure there is such a thing as wilderness in Dubai!

The first activity was 30 mins of ‘dune bashing’ aka holding on for dear life as our car weaved and skidded its way around the sand dunes!

I tried to take some footage but most of it is me banging the camera into the window or the seat as the whole car rocked.

Afterwards we got out and tried to take some coordinated photos..

Apparently coordination is not our strong point..

I promise I can actually jump, going to blame this on unfortunate timing 😉

When we reached the desert camp Mo and I made a beeline for the quad bikes!

I had my massive handbag with me so it looked like I was going out for the weekly shop but I promise it was way more hardcore than that.

Next up was the token desert activity of camel riding. I was actually bitten by a camel when I was a kid so I was rather nervous at this point.

Thankfully there was no repeat of the biting incident!

As the sun went down we made our way into the camp to watch the evenings acts, but before that we ran into this little guy.

Unfortunately he had no respect for Gucci sunglasses.

Or Mo’s hat…

But eventually he settled down.

After some arabic food we watched various acts twirl across the stage..

Of course hiding anytime they tried to pull someone out from the audience!

Just before it was time to head home we decided to take a family photo.

#ootd …. that is ‘outfit of the day’ for those of you who are not up to par on your Instagram hashtags!
