Dinner at Sirocco Bangkok
Al fresco dining on the 63rd floor in Bangkok was always going to be something special.
The last time I travelled to Bangkok I had dinner on the 52nd floor and loved it, but this time I was moving onwards and upwards.
Sirocco is consistently on Bangkok’s best restaurant list so it may be wise to book in advance. Luckily we went on a week night and managed to reserve a table just a couple hours before dinner.
We were seated at the most beautiful table with an amazing view of the city. Sorry for it being a tad blurry, but you get the idea.
The cuisine at Sirocco is international with a few Italian dishes and quite a bit of seafood. It would have been nice to see a few more Thai dishes on the menu considering how delicious Thai food is, and we were in Bangkok after all.
The menu offers two options – a la carte or a 7 course tasting menu. We weren’t feeling quite up to the 7 courses so we ordered starters and mains and left dessert for another visit.
Both of us went for the risotto as a first course though one was pea and one was risotto – just to be different.
For the main course I had rack of lamb and Anjli continued on the Italian train with more pasta.
The lamb was cooked perfectly and the flavours were fantastic. The risotto was good but didn’t stand out.
There is a lot of criticism of Sirocco over the prices. On average you are looking at a bill of 90-100 USD for two courses before drinks which is definitely on the high end for Bangkok. If you go for the 7 course tasting menu it is roughly 140 USD before drinks.
To break it down you really are going for the view and the atmosphere – it is a superb date place. The food was good but nothing stood out. In fact I found the food a few floors down at Breeze to be exceptional – if you are looking for high end Pan Asian cuisine, plus it also has a great view.
If you don’t fancy dinner then Sirocco is definitely still worth going to for drinks, particularly at sunset.
