To be perfectly honest I was contemplating doing an entire post using just Alice and Wonderland quotes because it is my all time favourite story ever in the world.

Ok! I promise I will stop now and tell you all about Afternoon Tea in Hayfield Mannor in Cork. I am going to keep it short and sweet as I am currently in MOSCOW! You can follow along with my Instagram snaps of Moscow here.
So as part of my birthday celebrations we went on a night away in Hayfield Mannor, one of Cork’s top hotels and the only Irish member of the small luxury hotel groups of the world.
After a bit of a kerfuffle with the room, I threw on a frock and we made our way down to the fine dining restaurant, Orchids.. don’t worry will update you on the room details later, but first it’s time for tea.

The tea came with strawberry smoothies and some incredibly delicious fudge.
We also received a surprise of two glasses of champagne, very nice!
Now for the main event…
I loved the egg mayonnaise sandwiches in the brioche bun, so tasty and a nice mix with the white bread sambos.
On the second plate there were the essential scones along with walnut cake and carrot cake.. yum!
Finally all the mini desserts were saved for last. Unfortunately at this stage all I could manage was a macaroon we then save the rest for later and subsequently forget them in the hotel’s fridge! Disaster!
Aside from forgetting our cakes, afternoon tea was a lovely and relaxing experience, would definitely recommend it if you are ever in Cork!
