Living in the Clouds in Copenhagen

AC Bella Sky Copenhagen

Photos of Copenhagen have been flooding my Instagram feed lately, in part due to the infamous new Ryanair base at Copenhagen airport and partly due the city being one cool cat.

Of course I couldn’t resist instantly hopping on the bandwagon and buying the ridiculously cheap Ryanair flights (€45) for a weekend break.

First stop was the AC Bella Sky, part of the Marriott chain and Scandinavia’s largest design hotel.

The hotel conveniently had a free shuttle bus from the airport saving the awkward moment when you try to navigate your way in a foreign non-English speaking country and undoubtably end up in a field somewhere 50 miles out of the city… actually who am I kidding that happened to me in Philadelphia.

When they said ‘large’ they really weren’t kidding, I don’t think I have ever been in such a big hotel.

Check-in was one of the most bizarre experiences I have ever had, instead of one long desk there were several check-in counters, almost airport style! There was even a separate desk for Marriott elite members!

The design of the hotel was super funky, it was as if we had stepped into a futuristic vortex.

Our room was equally modern and it had a lovely big window letting in lots of light.

The use of space in the room was crazy efficient and streamlined… if only I could get my apartment to be like this!

I also liked how clean, new, and fresh everything felt, though I do wish they had stocked the room slightly better, there were no bathrobes or slippers or dental kits.

Once we had settled in we made our way up to the 23rd floor to the sky bar.

Copenhagen is an interesting city in that there is so much green space very close to the centre of town.

It was refreshing to enjoy cocktails overlooking so much greenery.

As soon as we had drunk the cocktails our tummies started rumbling, thankfully the metro into town was just a hop, skip, and jump away.

Overall the AC Bella Sky was the perfect base for us as it was right next to the metro and just a 10 minute ride into the centre. Also the breakfast buffet selection spread out over about 10 tables… yum!

This is definitely one of the most unique hotels I have stayed it, while it wasn’t ultra luxurious it was very slick and modern and the location is great for business travel or a short break!
