Sika Restaurant at the Powerscourt Hotel
What would a luxury getaway be without a lovely dinner to write home about?
On our mini break to the Powerscourt Hotel (read part one here) we indulged in a dinner at Sika, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant.

Before I get to the food let’s first take a moment to admire the super impressive lobby…amazing right?
Stunning!
For dinner I wore a LBD that I bought in Ted Baker a few years ago, along with a statement necklace to dress up the look.
The dress has come in so handy as it works for almost any occasion. Sadly this particular one isn’t on sale but I have sourced a few other LBD’s that I think are fabulous!

Sika offers a choice of either 2 courses for €50 or 3 courses for €60, being the hungry creatures that we are we went for the three courses.
For starters I had pan fried scallops served with a pig’s head croquette and creamed leaks… wasn’t too keen on the whole pig’s head thing but I do love croquettes so I thought I would risk it.
It was tasty, definitely made the right choice! My boyfriend went for the poached duck egg served with duck boudin and asparagus.
He also enjoyed his meal but would have preferred if there had been slightly more duck.. it is hard to please us carnivores.
Next up was the rack of lamb for moi, and the pan fried halibut with crispy chicken skin for himself.
The lamb was perfectly cooked and the yoghurt sauce made it much lighter than if it had been served with a gravy based sauce, which was great as we ended up eating rather late at night.
During dessert we made a critical error, right after ordering are non-souffle desserts we saw the most decadent chocolate souffle go to the table next to us, then as the girl put her spoon into it all this delicious hot chocolate sauce came oozing out… serious food envy.. we should have had the souffle.

If you are not as much of a chocolate fiend as me then the Rhubarb and Ginger Mille-Feuille was excellent, very creative and it had a lovely tangy taste to it.
The chocolate cylinder wasn’t quite for me but I absolutely loved the coco sorbet that it came with, delicious!
Remember how I talked about the adorably cute miniature lemon meringue pie in my first post about Powerscourt? Well somehow they can be made even smaller!
A brilliant little touch to the end of a lovely meal, now to work out how many of jumping jacks I will have to do to work it off!
