Singapore From Under My Umbrella – Part Two
I’m still 50/50 on whether I like blackout blinds or not…
On one hand I can just sleep and sleep and sleep if I use them..
But then again it’s a weird feeling to wake up at 10 am and still think it’s not a minute past midnight.

Waking up slightly dazed and confused turned out not to be a problem in Singapore though, as our hotel had our backs..

When Akshay and I eventually orientated ourselves to time and place we returned back to our check-list.
Already ticked off (and covered in my previous post) were the Botanical Gardens.

And a warehouse rave… just kidding that wasn’t on our checklist but it was fun!
Next up was Gardens by the Bay, a 250 acre park right in the centre of Singapore.

The Gardens are best known for their crazy conservatory project where they built two giant glass domes.
The first dome called the Cloud Forrest contains a 35 meter tall mountain covered in lush tropical rain forrest vegetation.

Ok some of the plants were made of lego..
And yes the red umbrella made a return!…of course I looked totally ridiculous walking around under a red umbrella inside a glass dome, but it had to be done!
The second dome, is home to Singapore’s favourite flower, the orchid. It’s kept at a cool 23-25 degrees which is welcome relief from the sweltering temperature outside.
Akshay made a wishful remark about the domes being a pilot project before they cover the whole of Singapore in a giant glass cooled dome..
Our final mission in Singapore was to find a perfect spot for my signature pose..

We had initially planned on Marina Bay Sands being the spot but when we got there we found it to be far from zen as it was swarming with people.
This spot was far more zen
With MBS knocked out of the running there was really no other place that is as synonymous with Singapore as Raffles Hotel.
This iconic colonial style hotel is also the home of the Singapore Sling which is now 100 years old.
It was the perfect spot to end such a lovely weekend!
