Staycation at the Powerscourt Hotel Wicklow
Did you ever watch the film Eloise at the Plaza?
I could live here
Well as it says on the tin, it’s about a little girl called Eloise who lives in the Plaza Hotel in NYC. Every little girl’s dream… who am I kidding? It is my adult dream to permanently camp out at a fancy hotel, so I am only too delighted whenever I get a chance to stay in one.
How are hotel beds so much more comfortable then your bed at home?
I also never had much of an appreciation for staycations until very recently, I used to think that unless multiple long haul DVT provoking flights and a foreign language were involved then it didn’t really count as a holiday.

Though when you roll up to a place like this after just a short drive it really helps change your perspective 😉
Our trip to Powerscourt Hotel couldn’t have come at a better time, we were both dying of work stress and really needed a change of scene.. and in my case a nice hot bath!
View from our Room at Powerscourt Hotel
It was strange that somewhere so close to Dublin could be so totally different, with just a short drive we were surrounded by forrest and greenery, good for my zen spirit!
Once we had checked in we were shown to our lovely corner room suite over looking the gardens.
What a way to wake up!
Our room was fantastic, it just went on and on.
Yes those are sweet treats on the table… photo coming up soon!
Oh here is our own corridor.
Just a casual entrance hallway
Here is another set of table and chairs, just in case the first the sofa and armchairs weren’t enough.
We also had two bathrooms!
I could definitely get used to this.
I very much enjoyed feeling regal sitting under the chandelier on my new throne.
Sitting on my throne
After a sufficient number of regal poses in the room we wandered down to the garden and I fully assumed my new role as queen.
Assuming my role as Queen
I did have to bash a couple pawns to get there…
Becoming Queen is hard work.
In the meanwhile the swings were being put to good use..
A happier man could not be found.
I loved how peaceful the gardens were. The green hills just seem to roll on for ever with the beautiful Sugar Loaf mountain in the distance.
We finally retreated to the Sugar Loaf Lounge for some afternoon tea.
How cute is that lemon meringue pie? It was the perfect size, just enough to cure my sweet tooth but small enough not to bring on the guilt.
Though I would like to proudly claim at this point that I did in fact use the gym, yes I did, go me, *pat on back.

I even went for a swim in the ESPA.

I went early the next morning to give me a boost for the day and to work of the dinner off the previous night, the details of which I shall save for next time!
