Sundowners at the Banyan Tree Seychelles

Remember the days when people bought guide books to tell them where to go?

Somewhere Awesome

Well ok I know lots of people still do, but being the Instagram addict that I am, I prefer to stalk every potential destination through hashtags and check ins.

This was how I came across this seriously beautiful pool at the Banyan Tree Seychelles.

Infinity Pool at the Banyan Tree Seychelles

Isn’t it stunning?

I knew I just had to go, but since it was located at the far end of the island from us I didn’t want to make out right demands to my parents straight off the bat so instead I waited till we were out driving around before gently starting to promote the Banyan Tree.

The person you have to impress

As it happens the map of Mahe Island was deceptive, and in fact everything was so much closer then it looked on the map so after 40 minutes of driving we had already reached the far end of the island.

Renting a car was also a great idea, the Beau Vallon beach where we were staying was stunning but rather busy, by driving around you are able to explore the other nearly deserted beaches on Mahe.

The deserted beaches were just calling our names so we spent the afternoon swimming away and then decided to call into the Banyan Tree for sundowners.

For those of you who don’t know “sundowners” are the drinks you have when the sun is going down.. an essential word for your vocabulary!

Can’t get enough of the sunsets in the Seychelles

Finally I got to see the beautiful pool and I just couldn’t resist a quick dip!

If you follow my Instagram you will know I am all about the zen quotes so here goes “There is more to life than increasing speed” – Gandhi #zen

It was also an excellent spot for some self absorbed photo posing!

We then wandered down to the beach as the sun was beginning to set. A little bit further up the beach from us a couple were getting married at possibly the most romantic place on earth.

Sorry I didn’t take any photos of them, thought that might be creepy!

The bar at the Banyan Tree was set out on a balcony over looking the beach and it had to be one of the most beautiful spots I had every seen.

I ordered the standard holiday cocktail, a Pina Colada!

It was delicious!
