Top 5 things to do in Cannes
“People who say that money can’t buy happiness just don’t know where to shop.”
Oh I know you agree, even if you pretend otherwise.
After a few days of lazing on the beach in Monaco we decided to take a little train trip down to Cannes.
The mission of this trip was to find a replacement hat after mine was tragically lost at sea.
Perhaps I got a little carried away in the shops…. I actually took so long in one shop deciding on a jacket that the security guard came up to me and told me he liked the jacket and I should just get it.
Once we managed to tear ourselves away from the shops we sauntered down to the beach to find the world and his wife were lying there tanning themselves.
I could go on about my how I turned this way and that way to get the right amount of sun but I feel that might get old after awhile so instead here are my top 5 things to do in Cannes!
1) Go for a stroll along La Croisette
Promenade de la Croisette is where it’s at in Cannes. This beautiful stretch of beach takes you past designer shops and luxury hotels on one side and a 2km stretch of sandy beach on the other. If you are looking to get your tan on you can opt for a trendy beach club with cocktail service to your lounger or set-up your own umbrella on the free public beach section.
2) Eat at a street-side café
There are so many restaurants to choose from in Cannes that you could end up wandering around like a lost soul for ages trying to pick a place. I would recommend Rue Hoche, this little side street off Rue d’Antibes has a number of street side restaurants that are perfect for a casual bite to eat.
3) Sip cocktails at a rooftop bar
I would recommend doing this in pretty much every city / town and Cannes is no exception. In November I was lucky enough to attend the Barriere Majestic’s penthouse party at the ILTM Cannes event. The terrace had an amazing view over the Croisette. Next on my list to visit is Le 360 at the Radisson Blu.
4) Max out your credit card on Rue d’Antibes
In my defence.. I had a hat to buy, skin cancer is no joke. Then of course the hat was a lovely summer hat so I had to buy a lovely summer dress to wear with it. Then what if it got a bit chilly at night? I couldn’t not look for a jacket… yes my logic is flawless.
5) Have your red carpet moment at the Palais des Festivals
Can you believe I walked on the red carpet in Cannes and did not take a photo?? I take a photo of literally everything, half eaten desserts, every matcha latte that I have ever consumed, but no red carpet snap… shall obviously have to go back! Just incase you are wondering, no I did not go to the Cannes Film Festival, instead I went to the International Luxury Travel Market which had less movie stars but I guarantee there was just as much champagne!
