I have also convinced myself that everyone else feels the same way about rooftop bars/restaurants, unless of course you are my mother who likes to ask questions such as “why do we have to act like pigeons all the time?”… (I know you like them really mum!)

That aside, when a friend from Moscow recommended the sky high White Rabbit restaurant with terrific views of the Moscow skyline I didn’t hesitate to book it… or at least try to, my Russian isn’t on point unfortunately.
White Rabbit is a 15 minute drive from the Red Square. It being slightly further out from the tourist areas meant that the crowd was mainly Russian, which was great as it made me feel instantly hip and trendy and in the know.
The theme is Alice and Wonderland, so obviously I was already delighted before I had even tasted the food. Alice and Wonderland is just the best, end of.

When I stopped literally climbing over other guests to get the best photo I sat down to a starter of scallops.
My mum also had scallops and my dad had snails, which I refused to take a photo of so you will just have to make do with this funky sunset shot that I snapped out through the window.
For main course I had grilled sea bass, and having just had it a few nights before in a fancy Irish restaurant I can honestly say this was way better.. so fresh and tasty.
My parents both went for the duck and gave very positive reports.
After dinner we went for a snoop around the rest of the restaurant and discovered a very well stocked Moet & Chandon Champagne Bar downstairs complete with a fish tank.

Yes those are paintings of rabbits in the background!
I just loved the funky vibe of White Rabbit and in short the food and service was excellent but who even cares when you have a view like that!
If you have to get a bill it is so much better when it comes inside a Russian doll!
