Wimbledon
There is nothing the British do better than pomp and ceremony, and there is no better place to see it than Wimbledon.. unless of course you manage to nab an invite to a royal wedding.
The Championships take place at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London at the end of June every year. The tournament continues for two weeks, and while the worlds top players battle it out on the courts, the watching public manage to consume 28,000kg of strawberries washed down with 7000litres of fresh cream!
I have been going to watch Wimbledon for the last 7 years and every time I am amazed by the effortless organisation of the massive crowds wandering through the grounds.

I normally take the bus to Wimbledon as the tube is so rammed with sweaty people and I want no part of that. The bus however, is usually an old fashioned double decker that is nicely conducive to people having their own personal space and the ride which takes around an hour is a great way of catching a glimpse of central London.
Eating is great pastime of Wimbledon and there are several places to do so. I prefer Cafe Pergola as there is plenty of seating and the garden area is fenced by beautiful flowers. The Baseline Cafe is another favourite as for some reason it has yet to be discovered by the masses of Wimbledon and you can nearly always find a seat, and it has the option of table service!

Centre Court, Court 1 and Court 2 require specific tickets while the outside courts are open to everyone under a general admission ticket. I have been lucky enough to always get Centre Court tickets which is really such a treat!

Here are a few snaps from the matches I watched. Very excited to have seen the former champion Novak Djokovic who looks to be in with a very good chance this year!
Below is Novak Djokovic doing his thing. The Serbian was playing Radek Stepanek, a swiss player who is also known for his string of off-court relationships with fellow tennis stars such as Nicole Vaidisova, Martina Hingis, and Petra Kvitova.
It was a 4 set struggle for Djokovic but he eventually came through in the end.
The match was made all the better by having a Pimm’s in hand. This delicious fruity drink is a must have at any British summertime event, and if you don’t believe me 200,000 glasses of Pimm’s were sold during last years tournament… CHEERS TO WIMBLEDON!
